A January Birthday Celebration

Image
Last night, we went to dinner with my sister and brother in law. Both of their birthdays are in the month of January, and my parents kept their two little boys (my nephews). So it was a great opportunity for the adults to have a fun night out!  Of course we headed over to one of our favorite restaurants here at the beach, Louisiana Lagniappe. They have an amazing menu - the drinks are fantastic and the food is to die for. My sister and I started out with a King Cake Martini, which is one of their specialty drinks.  And how does this sound - pan sauteed grouper topped with hollandaise sauce and grilled shrimp, served with a side of lump crabmeat and a twice baked potato? I will have to atone for this meal all week. We finished the night by having one of my sister BFF's and her boyfriend over for drinks and conversation. They have been friends for over 20 years, and hadn't spent any time together in years. There were lots of laughs and it was fun to see Angie again,...

Birthday Dinner at Louisiana Lagniappe

Caution: if you love seafood, you will probably be hungry after seeing this post!  As you will remember from Friday, I was very concerned about what was going to happen over the weekend. My Nanny was doing very bad, and my mother in law was in the hospital. Luckily, Nanny is feeling better and MIL was released home on Saturday. So, this weekend the DH and I were able to enjoy a nice dinner out for my birthday. Thank goodness, it was nice to be able to go out together and relax! He's been out of town a lot lately, and I've been working my tail off. (well not really - it's still here unfortunately, but you know what I mean!) One of our favorite restaurants here at the beach is Louisiana Lagniappe. Located at San Roc Cay in Orange Beach, Louisiana Lagniappe never disappoints. We've been going there for years (even before we lived at the beach). When we lived in Destin, we went to the LL there often too. We even have a favorite waitress (Tracy) and we always request ...

Shopping & Dining in Destin

Happy Sunday, Shopaholics! Hopefully you are enjoying a lovely and relaxing weekend! How are you doing on that holiday shopping??? Earlier this week, I was getting close to nervous breakdown status. The remodel, the mess, the DH.......it was all driving me crazy. My sister intervened (bless her heart) and we escaped to Destin for a quick "girls trip". We had a blast! A few of the highlights of our trip included: The fun began with dinner at Louisiana Lagniappe. I truly believe there isn't much in life that can't be solved by Fried Eggplant, covered with lump crabmeat and hollandaise sauce. Served with a glass (bottle - we split it of course!) of pinot and a twice baked potato. The next morning, we stopped by the beach to take a few quick pictures. When DH and I lived in Destin (2.5 years ago), we sat on this exact stretch of beach anytime we could. Britney Spears has a condo in the highrise building in the background, just thought you'd find that entertain...

Sixteen Years and Counting...

Happy Monday, Shopaholics! Hope you had a wonderful weekend! On October 22, 1994 my life changed forever. DH and I were married in a traditional ceremony in Mobile, AL. We celebrated our reception at the Richards DAR House in downtown Mobile and honeymooned on a cruise. Cute, huh? The above photo  was taken at our wedding reception. My scanner isn't working, so I had to take a photo of a photo - hence the bad picture quality. I wish you could see it better. Last Friday we celebrated our 16th anniversary, which began with this delivery... Did you notice the sand dollars attached to the red ribbon? What else could you expect from a florist named "Flowers By The Shore"? :-) We spent the entire afternoon at the beach, enjoying a nice relaxing afternoon and talking for hours. Amazing to me how time flies, some things change...but thankfully others stay the same. I am blessed with a DH who also loves the beach! After the beach we went out to dinner at Louisiana Lagnia...
