Shopaholic in Alabama

Even I can't believe it - but we've been here at the beach for four years. During the majority of this time, we've had drab white walls and white trim. It looked absolutely awful and we've been wanting to brighten up the joint for quite a while.  I'm pleased to report that we recently agreed on a color scheme, and painted some of the common areas of the condo. The kitchen and hallway going into the kitchen are both painted pink. Officially, the color is named "First Kiss". The color extends into the kitchen and even the DH is pleased with the results. (Please forgive the god-awful counter top and cabinets - they are next on the remodel list - I can only task the DH with so much in a short period of time, ha!) The pink color extends on the walls leading into the dining room, and we painted the dining room a lime green. The official color name is "Twist of Lime" and it's really fun! Happy Wednesday, everyone! Hope you are making it through the week with a huge smile! Many of you have asked about our bathroom remodeling project, and when I would be sharing photos. I promise - I am going to do it! I'm one of those people that wants everything just so before I show it off. I guess it's because I see all these photos on blogs of people's home and decorating, and I might feel a little inferior. In general, design and creativity are not one of my skill sets. But I manage to make it look presentable around here. :-) When we started our remodel, one of our first projects was the bathroom cabinets. They were covered in probably five coats of paint (pretty sure I saw pepto pink and yellow, and white was the top coat). We decided to attempt to strip all the old paint off the cabinets in preparation for sanding and staining. All this was to restore their natural wood finish and color. Mother and I went to the local Sherwin Williams store to purchase supplies....

Happy Wednesday, Shopaholics! Sorry I've been a little MIA around these parts, but this remodel has been keeping me extremely busy and kicking my bootie. TGIF, Shopaholics! Hope you've had a fantastic week and a fun weekend on tap! :-) Times have been very busy around here...last weekend we had a bunch of company for the Alan Jackson concert. Don't worry, I'll blog about that in the next few days - we had such a great time! Another thing keeping me and DH very busy is a remodel - actually it's a "gutting" - of both bathrooms here at the beach. Let me tell you - from what I can tell so far, this remodeling business is not for the faint of heart. So many decisions must be made. Tile colors and materials, tile size, grout color, paint color, light fixtures, granite countertop color, backsplash, mirrors, white or biscuit colored toilets? I mean seriously - does it matter if the toilet is white or biscuit? Apparently yes, it does! I'm living in a construction zone.
