It's Time To Go VOTE!

Image
When I started this blog several years ago, I made the commitment to never discuss two things: politics or religion. Today, I will not veer from that commitment. However, I stop in to remind you that today is Election Day - and your vote counts!  Even if you live in a "non-swing" state, remember there are many local elections and amendments on the ballot which can impact you. (For instance, we have a 1 cent sales tax on our ballot here for the school system). Remember that many before us had to fight for the right to vote, and we shouldn't take it for granted.  Have a great day!

Salt Water Saturday: Alabama vs. LSU

Image
Happy Weekend! Today we have been relaxing and preparing for tonight's big showdown in Baton Rouge...Alabama vs. LSU. Alabama heads into Baton Rouge with an unbeaten record and BCS Title hopes. LSU heads into the game with one loss this season and hopes of ruining our fun.  Of course, you know where my heart is! DH and I will be watching from home here at the beach. I suspect the game will be very close, but I hope it's not! :-)  Are you watching any football today? Who are you pulling for this season? p.s. The above graphic is from the Emerald Coast Crimson Tide Fans page on Facebook . If you're a Bama fan, you simply must go like his page HERE . The owner is a graphic designer and creates the coolest images every week. Tell him I sent you!

November...Really?!?!

Image
Is it really November? How did that happen? Does this mean that it's less than 30 days until Thanksgiving and less than 60 days until Christmas? Wow...the year has flown by!  Are you feeling the same way today? I'm wondering how in the world will I get everything done? Going back to work this year has absolutely killed me! Does anyone have any time-saving strategies to share? Or does one just have to reduce their expectations this time of year? Hope you have a great 1st day of November.

Stay Safe, East Coast Friends

Image
On this the last Monday in October, everyone is watching Hurricane Sandy and the impact to the Eastern seaboard. Here's hoping all my friends are safe and sound, snuggled at home in their PJ's and watching updates on television.  When we face hurricanes here on the Gulf Coast, it always helps me to try to think like Jimmy Buffett. "There's no reasoning with hurricane season" is one of my favorite quotes. The above picture is good for a chuckle. :-)  Stay safe out there!    p.s. Thank goodness, hurricane season is over very soon!

18 Years And Counting!

Image
My how time flies when you are having fun! Today, the DH and I celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. Even I can't believe it's been that long - where does the time go? We started dating in 1992 (20 years ago!) and were married on this day in 1994. I can't imagine my life with anyone else.  There are no big celebration plans today. We both have to work (ugh) all week. However, I am working on a trip to the DC area in December...fingers crossed! Hope you have a wonderful Monday!

What I Learned On Staycation

Image
You might have noticed, I've been absent for two weeks. Sorry I haven't updated, life has been so busy that I'm having a difficult time keeping up with everything.  Last week, I took some much needed time off work. Did I go somewhere exotic and fun? Absolutely not, I wish! With the DH's unpredictable work schedule, it's almost impossible to plan a "real trip"...so instead, I decided to take a "staycation". After being home for four days, I learned a few things. These are not breaking news or news flashes, but rather I was reminded of stuff I already know!  1. My body needs at least 7 hours of sleep per night. Since going back to work, I've been averaging around 5 or 6 hours per night (at the most). While off work, I got at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night, and felt great! I have now made a commitment to get more sleep.  2. It's really important to see your girlfriends. While on staycation, I had lunch with several girlfriends ...

Final Damages: Lilly Pulitzer Endless Summer Sale

Image
Well, it took a little over a month - but now I can finally confess my damages from the Lilly Pulitzer Endless Summer Sale. Most of us remember the details very well - the website crashed at the beginning of the sale, order status was uncertain, some customers received GWP's and others didn't, many people had cancelled orders...it was a mess. I felt really bad for the people who work at Lilly Pulitzer - honestly, we all know they want to take care of their customer. But the sale spiraled out of control, and it was really tough on the peeps at The Pink Palace.  When it was all said and done, I ordered twenty items for a total of $843. Full retail price on those items was $3432, so I saved 75% off retail. Of the original twenty items ordered, I only received sixteen of them because one of my orders was cancelled. (Those four items were sold out). Naturally, I was disappointed but I have to say - the Customer Service crew at Lilly Pulitzer made it right for me. I couldn...
