Birchbox: I'm In!

Image
I know, I know...you must be thinking "you're late to this party, Lori". Believe me, I already know! ha! But now I'm on the bandwagon and I like it!  Many of my blogger friends have been talking about Birchbox for months, and I recently decided to get on the waiting list and join the party. When my August box arrived, I was thrilled with the contents and wanted to show you everything I received.  For August, Birchbox contents had a "beauty school" theme in honor of the back to school season. My box included DDF Brightening Cleanser (which I plan to give away, as I only use a specific brand of cleanser). It also included LiQWd Professional Volumizing Catalyst, which I used on my hair yesterday and loved. This is something I might purchase in a full size version.  The Dr. Jart+ Waterfuse Beauty Balm is a multi purpose product that includes a SPF25. I might try it on one of those days that I don't plan to leave the house and am not wearing any ma...

Latisse: It Works, Here Is Proof!

Image
It's time for a true confession. Please don't think I'm too vain, but I tried Latisse. And ladies and gentlemen, guess what?!!? It works. It REALLY works.  As they say: the proof is in the pictures. The above picture was taken after two months of using Latisse. (I'm on the right, my sister is on the left).  The picture below was taken three months after my I ran out of my Latisse supply.   Obviously, I'm on the right side again. With my short and stubby eyelashes. :-(  Clearly, I need to reinvest in my Latisse. All this maintenance is really getting expensive, and the DH thinks I'm totally ridiculous to want long eyelashes.  What do you think? Have you ever tried Latisse, or any of the other lash enhancing products? What were your results? Let me hear from you!

My Shopaholic Skin System

Image
Do you have a specific nighttime skincare regime or system? It's almost a big joke here, when I tell the DH I have to "get ready for bed" - that means I'll be in front of the mirror for at least fifteen minutes before retiring for the evening. And all because of my nightly regime!  I like to think that I have pretty decent skin and a fairly nice complexion, but it comes with an investment of my time and a little money. I've always been one of those girls who took care of her skin. Heck, I lay out in the sun for eight months out of the year - I know I must do this! :) Even when I was a teenager and in my early 20's, I didn't go to bed with makeup on my face or eyes. I can clearly recall the day my Mother took me to the Clinique counter and I was introduced to the 3-step system, some of which I still use today. Over the years, my skin's needs have changed and the products have changed as a result.  Just for fun, here are the products that I use ...

Fall Nail Color: Is It Time For A Change?

Image
Everyone knows I love summer. I love the beach, having a suntan and wearing bright colors. My love of wearing bright color extends to my manis and pedis. It always makes me a little sad the day I look down at my fingers or toes and say "it's time to retire Strawberry Margarita" (or Cajun Shrimp). Recently, I have invested in a few new polishes for fall and winter. With the addition of these to my current polish wardrobe, I am gradually embracing the darker color palettes. While the temperatures are still 70-80 degrees, it is late October, after all!  The following polishes will be in heavy rotation from now until late February...from Left to Right in above photo: "Going Incognito" by Essie "Vodka and Caviar" by OPI "Steel-Ing The Scene" by Essie "I'm Not Really A Waitress" by OPI "Lincoln Park After Dark" by OPI "OPI Red" by OPI Now I am considering the addition of a blue polish to the lineu...

Taking The Moroccanoil Plunge!

Image
Happy Tuesday! Shopaholic Confession: I finally broke down and bought some Moroccanoil. I have been hearing folks rave about this stuff for a few years - and decided now is the time to take the plunge! With summer upon us, my hair is experiencing a lot of abuse. Isn't it bad enough that we color, blow dry, flat iron, use a curling iron, etc every few days? Then summer arrives and we sunbathe, swim in a pool and the Gulf of Mexico, exercise outside in 90-100 degree heat, wear a ton of ponytails and headbands. Not to mention washing the hair more than normal because it's so darn hot! Enter what I am hoping will be a miracle product - the Moroccanoil Light Oil Treatment. Instructions say to use a small amount on damp hair, then style as usual. For me this means use a significant amount on damp hair, as my hair is extremely thick. Watch what happens - I'll end up loving this product and wanting to purchase everything else in the hair care line. Of cours...
