New Fascination With ToyWatch

Image
Happy Thursday, Shopaholics! Hope you're all doing wonderful and having a great week! So sorry I haven't updated in a few days, it's been a crazy time around the funny farm! Last Sunday we participated in our annual Mardi Gras parade (photos later, promise). Monday was "recovery day" which really wasn't recovery but more work, work, work. Then Tuesday was Mardi Gras Day and DH had to work (sad but true). I made the best of it and spent the day with my parents and nephews, attending our nice and calm parades here at the beach. Yesterday I spent the day cleaning, catching up on laundry, working over at Shopaholic's Preppy Closet (you can see the new listings HERE ).  Back to today's fun! Have you heard of ToyWatch? When I mentioned this brand on SPC, I realized that not many of the fans knew about the brand. I will admit that I'd never heard of the brand until Sandra Bullock wore one in the movie "The Blind Side". It was white, big, bl...

Lilly Buying "Restriction" Starts Now And Here's Why

Image
Happy Monday, Shopaholics! Last week the DH was out of town for several days, and it was a perfect opportunity to take care of a little "closet business" around these parts. As many of you already know, I have bought quite a few pieces of new Lilly over the past 2-3 weeks. I had been stacking them up in a spare bedroom and they needed to be hung and the closet purged once again. I could not believe the full extent of my "damage" once it was all arranged and in my face. The recent rash of sales have killed me! I managed to buy not one, not two, not even ten new dresses.....Twelve new dresses! Two new Elsa tops, one Reenie top and one Vivi top... Also a new embroidered denim skirt with labs (I literally live in these denim skirts in the spring and summer), Vivien top in toile, Katia knit wrap in white, Hannah tie top and the cutest argyle sweater just for fun. Believe it or not, I even bought a few dresses that I ALREADY OWN. Ugh, I hate it when that happens...

Not So Great Expectations: The $50 Lilly Dress...

Image
Happy Monday! Did you have a wonderful weekend? I'm happy to report that we are back in the land of functioning appliances. Never thought I'd be so pleased to see a new refrigerator arrive! :-) Today I want to talk about something that has been bothering me for a while, so please indulge me. While this conversation might seem a little random to readers who aren't tuned in to the Lilly-themed pages on Facebook, I'm sure you will catch on pretty quickly!  Everyone knows the economy has been in a down turn for the past two-three years, right? Even though many of us have continued to shop and act like it wasn't happening (that's me: guilty as charged!), some of our favorite companies, brands and designers are suffering. Yet others are flourishing. Go figure.  Recently it was announced that the Lilly Pulitzer Via shops would not be allowed to have sales, or sale prices, on their websites and/or Facebook pages. It's important to note that Lilly Pu...

Introducing Shopaholic's Kiddie Closet

Image
Wow! I can't believe it's already Thursday. The DH has been off on a hunting trip and I've been taking care of business here at home. Yesterday I got distracted (let's face it, that doesn't take much, ADD in full swing always) and didn't finish my housework. I'll pay for that later today....ugh. Today I have exciting news to share with you! My newest project is a consignment page on Facebook for all the mommies, expecting mothers, grandparents and aunties like me! We're all good preps here - and our children are dressed accordingly. The question is - what happens to all those clothes they outgrow? (So quickly, I might add...) Most people do one of two things with their children's used or NWT clothing/accessories. They're either donated to a friend, family member or favorite organization OR taken to your local consignment store. As you probably have read or seen in the news, the consignment business in general has been booming since the econom...

Resolution Solution Series: Organizing Your Closet!

Image
TGIF, Shopaholics! What do you have planned for this weekend? Since I'm still (ugh) fighting this sinus infection, we are staying home for some much needed rest! And I'm looking forward to it. Sleeping late and staying in my PJ's - that is my plan! :-) Thanks so much for all your comments and questions Wednesday on the couponing/saving money post. Feel free to email me directly if you have any others (or comment, whatever you prefer). I plan to answer them all in an upcoming post and expand on my couponing plan and habits. Hopefully it will help you too! Today I'd like to talk about another common New Years resolution, and that is getting organized! More specifically, we are talking about our closets! As several of my BFF's and family can attest, this is an area of constant struggle for me. We all know I like to shop, and frequently purchase new clothing, etc...yet my closet size is the same it's been for almost three years. Major adjustments are constantly...

Pay It Forward

Image
Happy "Hump Day", Shopaholics! Did you know today is national "Pay It Forward" day? Of course we've all seen the movie, but are you wondering how to participate in the day? Here are some suggestions: *Pay for someone's cup of coffee *Buy someone else's groceries *Help someone out *Donate something *Get the next person's gas *Be creative Last year, the person in front of me at Starbucks paid for my Passion Fruit Tea. So I paid for the person's directly behind me to keep it going. How fun -and it was a total surprise at the window! This year, I am participating by offering every fan of Shopaholic's Preppy Closet on Facebook ONE free listing! (Only one stipulation - the listing must be from a designer on our accepted brands list). Any additional listings are priced at the regular rate of $2. If you're not already a fan of the page, please get over there and help me out by becoming one. For those who haven't visited us yet, ...

At A Total Loss...

Image
Happy Monday, Shopaholics! Hope you're doing great today and are well rested after a nice weekend! For once, I'm at a total loss of words. I know, it's difficult to imagine; but it's true! :-( Lately I have been thinking a lot about this blog - where it's been, where it's going, and what my readers might expect from me. Believe me, I realize I haven't been updating quite as much as normal...and honestly, I think it's because I haven't been shopping as much as normal. You can pick yourself up off the floor now, and continue reading! :-) It felt like I was "boxing myself in" on the blog...everyone was reading and looking for the latest and greatest sales, shopping tips, etc. I do LOVE offering those things here, but even for me - there are times when I don't shop much. I guess I feel like that's what you are looking for from me.....and I haven't been able to give it to you! Am I correct? What would you LIKE to read about...

An Update (Finally!) - And A Huge Favor for Nanny's 85th Birthday!

Image
Hello Shopaholics! Did you think I had deserted you? Moved to the Far East or something? Nope....things have been way crazy around these parts. The past few weeks have been a blur. For starters, I've been busy trying to build Shopaholic's Preppy Closet on Facebook. Thank goodness my sister has been helping me or I'd be drowning! If you haven't yet, get yourself over to Facebook and "like" the page for me! (link HERE ).  My plan is for this to be the premier consignment site on Facebook. We are specializing in preppy and designer clothing, shoes and accessories. Think Lilly Pulitzer, Vineyard Vines, Trina Turk, there are even a few Burberry listings right now! Who knows where this will lead - it might even turn into a "real job" for me in the future. I'm getting a little bored not working anyway... Additionally, DH ended up with some unexpected time off (thanks, BP). We took a short trip and spent some time boating, fishing, hanging in the sun...

Introducing -- Shopaholic's Preppy Closet on Facebook

Image
Happy Thursday! Today I'm off shopping with my sister (and hopefully my Mother!), lunching and just generally playing all day because we can! :-) Speaking of shopping...I wanted to tell you all about my new Facebook page, Shopaholic's Preppy Closet (link HERE ). You know how some bloggers have "blog sales" to clean out their closets? Still others sell on Ebay, or on the Re-Lilly group on Facebook? Well I decided it was time to create one central place for my unused closet contents. Additionally, I am posting items for a few family members and friends. You can expect to see all your favorite brands - Lilly Pulitzer, DVF, Trina Turk, Nanette Lepore, Catherine Malandrino, Juicy Couture and many more! Paypal is the accepted form of payment, and all items are shipped promptly. I'd be honored if you would come "like" the fan page HERE . Who knows? I might have that special piece posted that you "need". There's a wide range of sizes available...
