Happy 2013: About Those Resolutions...

Image
Happy New Year, only 9 days late! HA! I hope your 2013 began with a bang and you're having a great start to the new year!  To write this post, I wanted to look back on my 2012 resolutions post. (It's HERE for the record.) There is one thing I notice, and quite frankly it's a little sad.  Every year, my #1 New Years Resolution is to lose weight. Last year I totally *FAILED* at this resolution. Believe me, I have plenty of excuses  reasons. I suppose the biggest reason is because I went back to work, and between the long hours in mortgage and a two hour commute every day, I simply don't have the time to exercise regularly.  Then again, don't we ALL have 24 hours in our day? And isn't this simply a matter of priorities? You know - how we manage our time. That's what the DH and my Father would tell me. I'm not sure how I will ever get this weight off. I don't want to give up, but life is gradually beating me into submission.  On the good news ...

Thanks for being a part of my little corner of the world - it's been a wonderful adventure and I'm thankful for you all!  Any resolutions this year? I am thinking long and hard about mine, as there are so many things I would like to accomplish in 2012.  Have a magnificent day!

Resolutions? Goals? Seriously?

Happy Tuesday! Thanks for the birthday wishes for my sister yesterday, both here and on Facebook. She was thrilled that so many of you said "Happy Birthday". Amy should be a Leo too, because she loves her birthday! :-) Now that the new year is in full swing, have you made New Years Resolutions? Are they "official" - written down in a visible spot (like on the fridge saying "no more ice cream")? Or do you prefer the "they're in my head only" method of resolutions. Do you even call them resolutions, or are they more like "goals"? I've always had mixed feelings about New Years resolutions. There seems to be this fascination/fixation with the whole "New Year - New You" cycle. And while I agree that a new year is a wonderful time to develop a great new habit (or kick a bad one) - it almost feels like a little too much pressure, doesn't it? Every year I've made pretty much the same set of personal New Years res...

Top News Stories of 2010...

Happy New Years Eve, Shopaholics! Unfortunately I am still sick, but trying to get through it! Here's hoping I start 2011 with a clean bill of health and no sinus infection. As we get ready to welcome 2011, today I would like to reflect on some of the top news stories of 2010. Keep in mind - this is just my list - despite a few awful things that happened, there was some good. I enjoyed putting the list together, because it reminded me of several things that were very positive and happy!  *Alabama Won The BCS National Championship. Our first one since 1992, which seemed like an eternity ago. *More Than 230,000 people were killed in the Haiti earthquake. Over 300,000 people were injured. *Apple unveiled the iPad. Sadly, I don't have one yet. *New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl. Their first ever. This lifted the spirits of the city more than anyone could imagine. My "second home" had a reason to celebrate.  *Sandra Bullock's world was rocked by he...
