Facebook: The Dreaded "Unfriend"

Image
Happy Thursday, Shopaholics! It seems this week has flown by, I can't believe it's almost time for the weekend! Yeah! :-) Are you on Facebook? Silly question - of course you are! These days it's easier than ever to connect with family, old friends, new friends, current and potential customers, etc via Facebook. Where else can you keep up with friends you haven't seen in 20 years, have your Auntie hit you on the chat, and sell a piece of Lilly - all at the same time? Yep - that's Facebook. Everyone manages their Facebook account differently, and in a manner which is comfortable to them. For me personally, I accept almost every friend request that comes my way. Unless I've been told by a trustworthy friend that someone is a total psycho or potential child molester (don't laugh - I've heard both of those stories) - I generally accept the friend request. As a result, I've reconnected with friends I haven't seen or talked with since as far back a...

Not So Great Expectations: The $50 Lilly Dress...

Image
Happy Monday! Did you have a wonderful weekend? I'm happy to report that we are back in the land of functioning appliances. Never thought I'd be so pleased to see a new refrigerator arrive! :-) Today I want to talk about something that has been bothering me for a while, so please indulge me. While this conversation might seem a little random to readers who aren't tuned in to the Lilly-themed pages on Facebook, I'm sure you will catch on pretty quickly!  Everyone knows the economy has been in a down turn for the past two-three years, right? Even though many of us have continued to shop and act like it wasn't happening (that's me: guilty as charged!), some of our favorite companies, brands and designers are suffering. Yet others are flourishing. Go figure.  Recently it was announced that the Lilly Pulitzer Via shops would not be allowed to have sales, or sale prices, on their websites and/or Facebook pages. It's important to note that Lilly Pu...

Introducing Shopaholic's Kiddie Closet

Image
Wow! I can't believe it's already Thursday. The DH has been off on a hunting trip and I've been taking care of business here at home. Yesterday I got distracted (let's face it, that doesn't take much, ADD in full swing always) and didn't finish my housework. I'll pay for that later today....ugh. Today I have exciting news to share with you! My newest project is a consignment page on Facebook for all the mommies, expecting mothers, grandparents and aunties like me! We're all good preps here - and our children are dressed accordingly. The question is - what happens to all those clothes they outgrow? (So quickly, I might add...) Most people do one of two things with their children's used or NWT clothing/accessories. They're either donated to a friend, family member or favorite organization OR taken to your local consignment store. As you probably have read or seen in the news, the consignment business in general has been booming since the econom...

Pay It Forward

Image
Happy "Hump Day", Shopaholics! Did you know today is national "Pay It Forward" day? Of course we've all seen the movie, but are you wondering how to participate in the day? Here are some suggestions: *Pay for someone's cup of coffee *Buy someone else's groceries *Help someone out *Donate something *Get the next person's gas *Be creative Last year, the person in front of me at Starbucks paid for my Passion Fruit Tea. So I paid for the person's directly behind me to keep it going. How fun -and it was a total surprise at the window! This year, I am participating by offering every fan of Shopaholic's Preppy Closet on Facebook ONE free listing! (Only one stipulation - the listing must be from a designer on our accepted brands list). Any additional listings are priced at the regular rate of $2. If you're not already a fan of the page, please get over there and help me out by becoming one. For those who haven't visited us yet, ...

At A Total Loss...

Image
Happy Monday, Shopaholics! Hope you're doing great today and are well rested after a nice weekend! For once, I'm at a total loss of words. I know, it's difficult to imagine; but it's true! :-( Lately I have been thinking a lot about this blog - where it's been, where it's going, and what my readers might expect from me. Believe me, I realize I haven't been updating quite as much as normal...and honestly, I think it's because I haven't been shopping as much as normal. You can pick yourself up off the floor now, and continue reading! :-) It felt like I was "boxing myself in" on the blog...everyone was reading and looking for the latest and greatest sales, shopping tips, etc. I do LOVE offering those things here, but even for me - there are times when I don't shop much. I guess I feel like that's what you are looking for from me.....and I haven't been able to give it to you! Am I correct? What would you LIKE to read about...

Introducing -- Shopaholic's Preppy Closet on Facebook

Image
Happy Thursday! Today I'm off shopping with my sister (and hopefully my Mother!), lunching and just generally playing all day because we can! :-) Speaking of shopping...I wanted to tell you all about my new Facebook page, Shopaholic's Preppy Closet (link HERE ). You know how some bloggers have "blog sales" to clean out their closets? Still others sell on Ebay, or on the Re-Lilly group on Facebook? Well I decided it was time to create one central place for my unused closet contents. Additionally, I am posting items for a few family members and friends. You can expect to see all your favorite brands - Lilly Pulitzer, DVF, Trina Turk, Nanette Lepore, Catherine Malandrino, Juicy Couture and many more! Paypal is the accepted form of payment, and all items are shipped promptly. I'd be honored if you would come "like" the fan page HERE . Who knows? I might have that special piece posted that you "need". There's a wide range of sizes available...

Shopaholic Makes FACEBOOK Debut! Exciting!

Image
Happy Thursday, my lovely pals! Today's post is going to be super short - I have a full day around these parts and it's starting wayyyyy too early! :-) I have some very exciting news to share!!! My Shopaholic self has a new FACEBOOK  fan page! Now don't worry, I'm not going to stop blogging here. My commitment it to always blog once a day - about something fun! However, I thought the Facebook page would be a FAST way to get information out to everyone.  For example, I try to blog only once a day. Yesterday (after my blog post was already up), I wanted to tell you guys about a Kate Spade sample sale AND a sale on Hautelook about $4 LORAC cosmetics. Facebook was a fantastic place to share that information, rather than creating 2 additional blog posts. Soooooo, come on over to Facebook and join me. Tell your other fashion-loving, sale-shopping Facebook friends. I want the page to be interactive - you guys feel FREE to share your finds! Shopaholic ...
