Salt Water Saturday: Alabama vs. LSU

Image
Happy Weekend! Today we have been relaxing and preparing for tonight's big showdown in Baton Rouge...Alabama vs. LSU. Alabama heads into Baton Rouge with an unbeaten record and BCS Title hopes. LSU heads into the game with one loss this season and hopes of ruining our fun.  Of course, you know where my heart is! DH and I will be watching from home here at the beach. I suspect the game will be very close, but I hope it's not! :-)  Are you watching any football today? Who are you pulling for this season? p.s. The above graphic is from the Emerald Coast Crimson Tide Fans page on Facebook . If you're a Bama fan, you simply must go like his page HERE . The owner is a graphic designer and creates the coolest images every week. Tell him I sent you!

Bama Barbie

Image
Until this moment, it was a well-guarded secret...but now the cat is out of the bag! I am a Barbie collector. They are currently stored away and not displayed, but I have a Barbie collector that consists of mainly designer Barbies. Think Kate Spade, Lilly Pulitzer, Versace, Bob Mackie, etc.  Since my Barbies are stored, I haven't been very tuned in to the newer Barbie collections. However, I just noticed that Mattel has now reproduced the University of Alabama Barbie. She was available years ago (yes, I have the old one - think mid 1990's) and is now available again!  In addition to the Alabama Barbie, there are Auburn, LSU and Arkansas Barbies. You know - if that's your thing! :-)  The dolls can be purchased on the Barbie Collector website HERE  - and I hear they are also available at Wal-Mart. This would be one of the few things to make me say "I'm going to Wal-Mart".  Do you also collect Barbies? Which ones are your favorites? Roll Tide...

Salt Water Saturday: Gameday Treats in Tuscaloosa

Image
Last Saturday, we attended Alabama's first home game of the season. Going to Tuscaloosa for the games is always a blast, but we tend to do the same things and go to the same places almost every week we're in town. Last week, we made an effort to hit downtown Tuscaloosa before the game - and we were not disappointed!  If you are in Tuscaloosa at any point during the season, and you need something to wear, be sure to visit The Shirt Shop. They are on Greensboro Avenue, and carry a wide variety of preppy brands you will love. Looking for Vineyard Vines gear with the Alabama logo? They have it here! Elizabeth McKay, Alice & Trixie and Joie are other ladies staples in this Tuscaloosa Tradition. The Shirt Shop also has a wide variety of men's merchandise, including the Vineyard Vines Alabama gear.  I was thrilled to find this elephant scarf. It is manufactured exclusively for The Shirt Shop, so of course I had to buy one. I needed more game day wardrobe options becaus...

Michigan vs. Alabama in Cowboys Stadium

Image
Wow - the Bama game at Cowboys Stadium on Saturday night was such a blast! Thank goodness we started the new season with a win over Michigan (41-14). The experience of seeing this game from Cowboys Stadium (AKA Jerry's House) was amazing. It far exceeded all of my expectations.  I attended the game with my Father and sister (DH out of town for work and my Mother couldn't leave town because she is tasked as my Nanny's caregiver). We took lots of pictures before, during and after the game...here we are about 2 hours before game time.  My uncle had a special request. He wanted us to bring him a game program - of course, we were happy to pick up an extra!  We also enjoyed margaritas during the game - they were "only" $16 each! Yes, I said EACH. Hey, at least we got to keep the glass. Here is my margarita with my new Lilly Pulitzer Tusk Tusk Cuff. I was thrilled when my sister gave me this cuff for my birthday, as it's a very difficult piece to find!  My s...

Salt Water Saturday: Bringing The Party To Big D

Image
As you all know from yesterday's post, we are now in Dallas and anxiously awaiting the Michigan vs. Alabama match-up tomorrow night at Cowboys Stadium. There are tons of people here, both Bama and Michigan fans.  Here are some of our photos from yesterday. After arriving in Dallas, we spent several hours at the stadium and in the pro shop mixing with other people in town for the game. We had a blast and here's the proof! (and proof of my purchases - but they're not all for me, at least one of those hats is for the DH) We also enjoyed a wonderful dinner out and we might have a few extra bags with us...ha! More on that dinner later! :-)  Are you also enjoying college football this weekend? Which games are you planning to watch?

38 Days, 12 Hours From Right Now

Image
...yep, I am on the countdown. Countdown to what, you ask? The first Alabama college football game of the 2012 season!  We are currently making plans to visit Dallas and attend the season-opener: Alabama vs. Michigan on September 1 at 7pm. This game will be played at Cowboys Stadium. Of course, I'm extra excited about that because the Cowboys are my favorite NFL team (too bad, they don't have a home game in Dallas that weekend - that would have been too good to be true).  If any of you are reading from the DFW-metro area, do you have any recommendations for me? I haven't been to Dallas in several years. Are you looking forward to college football season? Who is your favorite team? Now I'm working on my wardrobe - look for a fun post coming up soon on "Game Day Dressing".  Have a Wonderful Wednesday!

We Are The Champions, Again!

Image
Unless you've been hiding under a rock (or heavily medicated) for the past 24 hours, you have surely heard that the college football BCS national championship game was played last night in New Orleans. My Alabama boys beat our bitter SEC-rival LSU in convincing fashion 21-0. Never in the history of the BCS has the losing team scored "0" points - in any BCS bowl, not just the championship.  This was a huge victory for the Alabama program, one we'll be celebrating until football season begins next summer. I'm already looking forward to the Alabama season opener - it will be played in the "new" Dallas Cowboys Stadium, vs. Michigan. Now THAT is going to be huge - and I plan to be there!  Proud of my Alabama quarterback, A.J. McCarron. He is from my hometown of Mobile, and comes from a great family. A class act with a bright future!  Also proud of fellow Gulf Coast native, Trent Richardson. Trent hails from Pensacola (where I now work every day). Whil...

Two More Trees: Lilly Pulitzer & Football Themes

Image
It's Christmas Eve - which seemed like a perfect time to share my Lilly Pulitzer-inspired and Football tree with you!   These are small 4' trees that were pre-lit with clear lights. Last year, I used a much smaller pink tree for the Lilly ornaments, but my collection has grown so much that I had to get a larger size. This tree is a mixture of ornaments that are either Lilly Pulitzer or "Lilly inspired" (think pink, green, preppy). Hope you enjoy the photos.  The "football tree" is a mixture of ornaments from our favorite college and NFL teams - Alabama and the Dallas Cowboys. It's the same size tree as the Lilly-inspired tree. Merry Christmas Eve!  p.s.  Tracy Negoshian giveaway winners will be drawn later today, and then announced. Please be sure to check back!
