Salt Water Saturday: Gameday Treats in Tuscaloosa

Image
Last Saturday, we attended Alabama's first home game of the season. Going to Tuscaloosa for the games is always a blast, but we tend to do the same things and go to the same places almost every week we're in town. Last week, we made an effort to hit downtown Tuscaloosa before the game - and we were not disappointed!  If you are in Tuscaloosa at any point during the season, and you need something to wear, be sure to visit The Shirt Shop. They are on Greensboro Avenue, and carry a wide variety of preppy brands you will love. Looking for Vineyard Vines gear with the Alabama logo? They have it here! Elizabeth McKay, Alice & Trixie and Joie are other ladies staples in this Tuscaloosa Tradition. The Shirt Shop also has a wide variety of men's merchandise, including the Vineyard Vines Alabama gear.  I was thrilled to find this elephant scarf. It is manufactured exclusively for The Shirt Shop, so of course I had to buy one. I needed more game day wardrobe options becaus...

Only One More Of These Left in 2011...

Do you ever have a moment when you look at the calendar and think "wow" it's almost time for ______ (fill in the blank - important event, holiday, the end of something you really enjoy, etc)?  Yesterday, I had that "aha" moment when I realized there is only one Alabama home football game left in Tuscaloosa this season. Every year, I am so thankful that I have the opportunity to be a season ticket holder and attend the home games on Saturdays. It certainly makes football season a lot of fun (even if I'm often very tired on Sunday).  Part of what I enjoy about the games is spending time with my family and friends. In the above photo, I am with my Father at the Alabama vs. Tennessee game in October. My sister also attended the Tennessee game with us and we had a wonderful time.  What do you think of my Father's Alabama "Hawaiian" shirt? Believe me, everyone in Tuscaloosa asks him about these shirts. I think he has four or five of them, ...

#1 vs. #2 - Today!

Image
Happy Saturday, Shopaholics! I'm on the way to Tuscaloosa for the big showdown between Alabama and LSU - #2 vs. #1. It's like the national championship - but much earlier in the year!  Regardless of the outcome, I will still bleed crimson and white at the end of this night. :-)  Roll Tide Roll!

Game Day Tops: Va Va by Joy Han at Mermaids in Sandestin

Happy Monday and Happy Halloween! I'm sure most everyone is focused on Halloween today, but I'm not big on the holiday and decided to blog about something else. You guys know me, I tend to do things a little differently around here! :-)  While in Destin over the weekend, my sister and I visited a fun boutique at The Village of Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin. This is the same shopping center where the Lilly Pulitzer Via shop (Barefoot Princess) is located, and any visit to the area is not complete without stopping in Mermaids to see what's new. When I lived in Destin, I would visit this store often and was never disappointed. The store prides themselves on carrying the fun and funky vibe of beach attire along with the latest trends from both the east and west coasts. Va Va by Joy Han, Judith March and Tracy Negoshian were just a few of the brands we found in store Saturday. Speaking of Va Va by Joy Han, I was so excited to pick up this super cute "game day top...

Monday Musings

Happy Monday! Hope you had a wonderful weekend! Today I have a few random thoughts...   Musing #1: Our weather is so strange this time of year. Just last week, we had highs in the 50's and lows in the 30's. Today, our projected high is 77 degrees and tomorrow it will be 79 degrees. Does this mean I can get a suntan in late October? At least it will make my 4 miles nice, huh? Today Oct 24 Tue 25 Wed 26 Thu 27 Fri 28 Sunny Sunny Sunny Partly Cloudy Partly Cloudy 77°F High 79° High 78° High 79° High 73° High 52° Low 54° Low 54° Low 54° Low 46° Low Chance of Rain: 0% Chance of Rain: 0% Chance of Rain: 0% Chance of Rain: 0% Chance of Rain: 20% Details Details Details Details Next 5 Days Musing #2: All the Alabama and LSU fans are buzzing about the game on Saturday, November 5 in Tuscaloosa. Experts say this game will likely decide who plays for the BCS National Championship, and even the national media is all over it. Of course (!) I will be there, and I'm al...

Coveted Clutch For Gameday

Image
Happy Sunday! Hopefully you are enjoying a nice weekend!  Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the Alabama vs. Vanderbilt game in Tuscaloosa. It was Homecoming for the University of Alabama - and therefore a perfect time to break out my new clutch from Diana E. Kelly. If you're not familiar with DEK, she designs some of the most comfortable shoes on the planet - as well as these beautiful clutch bags. Diana's designs were featured on this blog back in July, see previous post HERE .  My clutch is just like the one pictured above and yesterday I carried it all around town. Honest to goodness, I'm not exaggerating when I say that everyone wanted this bag! I received so many compliments - from both women and men, young and old alike. If I had a trunk full of the DEK clutches, I believe I could have sold every one. :-)  Don't worry - even if you're not a Bama fan, Diana has a clutch perfect for your gameday ensemble.  For the Florida girls...  ...
