Fearless Fitness Friday: What's Your Motivation?

Image
TGIF, Shopaholics! Aren't you glad it's Friday? I'm so excited for the weekend - DH arrived home yesterday and we have lots of fun planned. We are going to enjoy the time he's home - even if it's too short! Today I'm starting a new series called "Fearless Fitness Friday". Each week I will blog about a fitness topic. The topics could range from motivation, different types of exercise/classes, fitness clothing and accessories, healthy recipes, etc. I'm hoping this will be a way for us to all share what is (or isn't!) working for us - and help keep me honest about my fitness goals. I hope you enjoy! What's your fitness motivation? Maybe it's the clothes in your closet that don't fit? Maybe you don't like the way you look in the mirror? Perhaps you are battling a health issue and need to get healthy again? Do you want to be more physically attractive to your spouse or significant other? Or maybe you want to reach that certain we...

Naughty Betty: The Brutal Truth, All Prettied Up

Image
Happy Thursday, Shopaholics! Yesterday I found the most fun stationery line in - of all places - Target! This Shopaholic is a sucker for stationery items and believes in the power of the "written word". I love sending holiday cards, note cards, birthday cards, etc. Ask any of my friends/family - they're always receiving something from me! "Naughty Betty" is hilarious! The creator of this concept has a wonderful sense of humor. My Target store had note cards, sticky notes and note pads. There might be other items available in your store. At only $3.99 for a set of eight note cards, the pricing is very affordable for everyone! Some of the designs that found their way into my cart include: "Greetings from Crazyville" (hilarious - and pink and green!) "Help Us Accept The Things The Salon Cannot Change" (what can't be changed at the salon?) "Thinking of You Like Wine At 5 O'clock" (it's 5 o'clock somewhere, ...

Happy Hump Day, Shopaholics! One more day until the DH is home for a few days. I'm so excited to see him, it seems he's been gone forever! As you already know, the Roslyn Skirt by Lilly Pulitzer is a staple in this Shopaholic's wardrobe. Every season, I am excited to see just which prints will be available in Roslyn and what type of details (lace, material, etc) they will have. The Summer 2011 collection does not disappoint - and of course two Roslyns are high on my wish list! Roslyn Skirt, Skye Blue, Dark N Stormy, $118 Roslyn Skirt, Classic White, Fallin in Love Placed Novelty, $98 Lucky for me - one of my favorite local boutiques, The Beach House Boutique right here in Gulf Shores - carries Lilly! And until Sunday, they are offering a special on the Roslyn styles above - just for Shopaholic In Alabama readers! With your purchase of either Roslyn skirt (Dark N Stormy or Fallin In Love), you will receive a FREE Lilly sun hat. The sun hat is available...

Another "Childless By Choice" Mother's Day - Updated!

Image
Happy Tuesday, everyone! Since I took a blog break that lasted almost the entire month of May, I just realized that I didn't have a chance to wish everyone a Happy Mother's Day! The above photo was taken Mother's Day Weekend 2011. My Mother and sister both came down to the beach and we had a girls' dinner out at Cobalt, a local restaurant. It occurred to me that many of my readers are new within the last year, and probably never read my post from Mother's Day 2010. This explains a lot about mine and the DH's decision to be "Childless By Choice". Perhaps it's time for a repeat!  It is very important to me that you, my readers, feel like you actually know me and I'm a real person. Sometimes I think that in the blogging world, there is this sense of trying to impress readers and other bloggers. I'm not here to impress you, but I do hope to entertain you and find new and special friends along the way. I hope you feel like you know me be...

The Face Of The Earth - I Haven't Dropped Off!

Happy Monday, Shopaholics! Did you guys think I deserted you? Were you wondering "where in the world is she" and if I was ever going to update again? Never fear - I am back now! The past month has been a whirlwind of events, emotions and happenings around the Shopaholic 'hood. So much to cover that I probably won't be able to do it in one post (and you'd be bored reading it anyway!). May was a extremely busy and challenging month for me. Just a few things:  the DH started a new job where he is traveling all the time (he's been gone for two weeks today, returning on Thursday - hopefully);  I've been working out 4-5 days per week and trying to lose weight (yes - again); I put myself on self imposed "buying restriction" because of the workout/weight loss plan; and we had huge family celebrations for Mother's Day, both of my parent's birthdays (they are only 6 days apart!) and Memorial Day. IF all this weren't quite enough for me to ...

I'm Alive, If You Wondered!

Good Afternoon, Shopaholics! For days I haven't been able to get into my blogger account. One of my dear friends and fellow bloggers messaged me earlier to say my blog was "gone" - she couldn't pull it up. Then I tried and couldn't pull it up either. Needless to say, I was freaking out a little bit that all my hard work here might be *poof* gone. Thank goodness it is ok, after a little bit of investigation and changes. Whew. Breathing again now. I'll update again tomorrow and let everyone know what I've been doing! Hope you're having a great start to the week!
