Disaster In The Kitchen

Happy Hump Day, Shopaholics!

Something disastrous happened in the kitchen yesterday. No, I didn't cook and make us sick - I wish. I'm sick for a different reason.

An extremely heavy glass vase fell off the top of our refrigerator. Of all the things it could hit...it decided to fall directly on our glass cooktop.

This will cost over $500...ask me what I'd rather do with $500? :-(

Upon reflection, we are extremely fortunate no one was injured. The glass vase was very heavy and as you can tell from the above photograph, glass went all over the kitchen. It was a big mess to cleanup.

Have you ever had any similar disasters? I'm so ticked at myself --- why did I allow a heavy vase on top of the fridge? What the heck was I thinking??? Ugh...

  1. OH, Lori....I am so sorry. What a mess and a dangerous one at that! I think I'd have to sit on that one for a while.

  4. Lori- I am so sorry! I feel your pain. We had a dripping shower head and I had been nagging my husband for a while to have a look at it. Well, this he decided to do on a Friday evening after having had a couple of beers. He took his wrench off the bathroom where the shower is located and next thing I know, water starts flooding all around me in the kitchen. Turns out that he dislocated the shower handle from the water pipe - WITHOUT TURNING OFF THE WATER MAIN FIRST. Then he went running around like a crazy man in and out of house to get a tool to turn the water main off. He slipped and fell on the kitchen tile (which was underwater). He hit his head and I then had to take him to the emergency room for stitches. And then deal with a flooded house at midnight!

  6. Wow, we have a similar stove and my mom always freaks out if something falls from the cabinet above it. I never really believed her when she said it could break...now I know. So sorry you have to deal with this!

  7. My son broke the glass door on my oven when he was little. Freak accident. But it shattered everywhere. Glad to hear everyone is ok.

  9. I'm a little late commenting on this. Ouch! I feel your pain. Tomorrow, the A/C needs repair and the hot water heater is not working as well. Lord, what I could do with the money that will be spent:{
