Adventures In Babysitting - Gulf Coast Style!

Happy Hump Day, Shopaholics!

Imagine for a moment - you don't have any children and you are babysitting a favorite nephew who has the "day off" from preschool. Other than a steady supply of Thomas the Train toys and DVD's, how do you keep the little fellow entertained? Did I mention he has LOTS of energy??? :-)

If you're me and DH, you take him to the beach. We already know he loves the beach! So here's what we did.

We let him play in the sand...
Running in the sand is also fun....because either me or DH has to chase him down...

He was fascinated by a washed up jellyfish...

Even I was amazed by this man of war's actually pretty, even though they will hurt you.

This is what "mostly cloudy with a little sunshine" means on the Gulf Coast of Alabama...I thought it was a beautiful photo...

Clouds rolling in on the beach never cease to amaze me...

A perfect day with two of my favorite men on the planet. What more could a girl want?

Have a Wonderful Wednesday - and feel free to leave your best babysitting tips and tricks. Next time it might not be beach weather. Believe me, I know how lucky we are to enjoy the beach on October 26, 2010. :-)

Sixteen Years and Counting...

Happy Monday, Shopaholics! Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

On October 22, 1994 my life changed forever. DH and I were married in a traditional ceremony in Mobile, AL. We celebrated our reception at the Richards DAR House in downtown Mobile and honeymooned on a cruise. Cute, huh? The above photo was taken at our wedding reception. My scanner isn't working, so I had to take a photo of a photo - hence the bad picture quality. I wish you could see it better.

Last Friday we celebrated our 16th anniversary, which began with this delivery...

Did you notice the sand dollars attached to the red ribbon? What else could you expect from a florist named "Flowers By The Shore"? :-)

We spent the entire afternoon at the beach, enjoying a nice relaxing afternoon and talking for hours. Amazing to me how time flies, some things change...but thankfully others stay the same. I am blessed with a DH who also loves the beach!

After the beach we went out to dinner at Louisiana Lagniappe, a local restaurant that offers some of the area's best seafood and steak. When our server heard it was our anniversary, she brought us complimentary glasses of champagne. How sweet was that?

My sister and her DH was child-free for the evening - so they joined us. This contributed to a shall we say "festive atmosphere" in which more wine was consumed than originally planned...
Our evening ended with a late night game of Lilly Monopoly. We're pretty sure my sister won, but couldn't verify because "someone" mixed the game and money allllll up because they were ready for it to be ovah. :-)

In closing, I have to say I feel very lucky to be married to such a wonderful DH AND have family close to celebrate with us. Hope your weekend was fabulous!

A "Beauty Ticket" For You!

Happy Thursday, Shopaholics! Hope you are doing wonderful and having a lovely week!

Recently I was introduced to the website "Beauty Ticket" by a Facebook friend who knows I have a serious *ahem* addiction to all things cosmetic, skin and hair care related. Ask those who know me best, I have cabinets and containers full of goodies here at home. And yet, I continue to purchase more.

Of course this begs the question "what is wrong with me?" but that's a topic for another day! :-)

Anyway, enough about the therapy I need and back to talking about Beauty Ticket (website link HERE). They advertise "premium brands at VIP prices" and a joke it isn't. Beauty Ticket has "private sales" - similar to Rue La La, Gilt Groupe, etc. but the focus is on all things beauty.

Since I've been a member of the site, I've seen private sales with Stila, Lumenesse, Rock & Republic, and many others. Many of the items are priced at up to 85% off retail. They also offer "gifts with purchase" - be sure to view the left sidebar to see what GWP's are available.

Here's the best deal I see right now - are you ready? From Bumble & Bumble - Re-balancing Conditioning Creme & Scalp Therapy.

This retails for $38 and is now a "Steal of the Week" at $5.99 each. Please note you can only purchase five units at this price, but what a deal! This is a product I have used before and it's fantastic! You better believe I am stocking up, my cart has five of these babies. The "Steal of the Week" never disappoints!

Be sure to check out the "shop by brand" feature - I found YSL, Smashbox, Sue Devitt, Two Faced, NARS, and many others!

Beauty Ticket's shipping is fast (USPS Priority Mail) and I've never had any problems with my order(s). The only customers who pay sales tax are those in CA. Additionally, they accept Paypal - you guys know I'm all over that. :-)

And I hate to say it (because that makes it real, you know!) but it's never too early to start your holiday shopping! I see lots of potential stocking stuffers on the website!

Have a fab day and Happy Shopping!

My Visit With Caroline Grace Jewelry

Happy Tuesday, Shopaholics! Thanks so much for all your kind words and comments after my last blog post. Admittedly I was feeling a wee bit sorry for myself and a little unloved. You know I'm not normally one to be "down" on anything - least of all myself! Your support means the world to me, and I really appreciate you all caring about my life - even when I'm not shopping. LOL

Do you remember me being excited about getting tickets to the Bon Jovi concert here at the beach? I managed to talk my friend Lucy over at Caroline Grace Jewelry into coming down for the concert and to spend the weekend.  It was the first time we'd met in person, although we were already big buddies on Twitter, Facebook, etc. DH was calling her a "computer friend"; so thankfully she came down and proved to him she was a "real friend".

We started the weekend by getting fresh pedicures on Friday morning:

Then, we went down to the public beach for the concert. We tailgated for hours before, of course you have a great time when you have a full cooler and a lovely group of friends! Here we are with my BFF Ashleigh.

On Monday, we went to Lulu's. This is a local hangout and big tourist destination here at the beach, and is owned by Jimmy Buffett's sister - Lucy Buffett. Of course we had a refreshing drink during our visit. Here we have Lucy with a rum punch.

I'm enjoying my favorite drink at Lulu's - a Jet Ski Killer. Caitlin, if you're reading - this photo and the next one are for you!

The outdoor bar at Lulu's is called the "Bama Breeze". Of course this is named after Jimmy's song, in case it sounds familiar to you.

As you can tell, we had a wonderful time. We wore our Lilly and our flip flops, sat on the beach, had fruity drinks (and some that weren't!), chatted for hours, and of course shopped! I'm not at liberty to reveal Lucy's purchase level at the Juicy Couture outlet....some things a girl has to keep secret!

Have a Terrific Tuesday!

At A Total Loss...

Happy Monday, Shopaholics! Hope you're doing great today and are well rested after a nice weekend!

For once, I'm at a total loss of words. I know, it's difficult to imagine; but it's true! :-(

Lately I have been thinking a lot about this blog - where it's been, where it's going, and what my readers might expect from me. Believe me, I realize I haven't been updating quite as much as normal...and honestly, I think it's because I haven't been shopping as much as normal.

You can pick yourself up off the floor now, and continue reading! :-)

It felt like I was "boxing myself in" on the blog...everyone was reading and looking for the latest and greatest sales, shopping tips, etc. I do LOVE offering those things here, but even for me - there are times when I don't shop much. I guess I feel like that's what you are looking for from me.....and I haven't been able to give it to you!

Am I correct? What would you LIKE to read about here? Do you really care about the other things that are important to me, like the fishing trips, Nanny's birthday, etc? Or is it really all about shopping? Should it be?

For those of you who are active on Facebook, you might have seen the photos of my closet (one of the closets anyway) posted on the Lilly Pulitzer page and Shopaholic's Preppy Closet (profile picture). Seriously - nothing else will fit, until I purge in a big way. I'm trying to clean out - selling stuff on Ebay and on Shopaholic's Preppy Closet on Facebook.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Of course I'm going to continue blogging, but often I wonder if anyone is even reading. I'm not getting many comments, unless I'm hosting a giveaway. I have gradually realized that many people seem to just read blogs to enter (and win) giveaways. Not sure what I think about that...

Anyway, have a wonderful Monday and a great week.

Lilly Girl Goes Snapper Fishing!

TGIF, Shopaholics! Before I forget, THANK YOU so much to everyone who mailed a card to Nanny for her 85th birthday. She received a nice pile of them last Saturday, and called me to tell me all about it. I was in the stadium for the Alabama-Florida game, which was about to start...couldn't hear a word she was saying, but got the scoop the next day! Thanks again, you guys helped make Nanny's 85th birthday very special and I really appreciate it!

The past two weeks have continued to be insane....DH's cushy BP gig is up, and he's taking a well deserved sabbatical before moving on to the next project. I're thinking "how nice to have him at home", right? Well yes....but as you can imagine, my schedule is all out of whack and I'm not getting much done as a result!

Last Friday, we were lucky enough to go red snapper fishing. Normally at this time of year, snapper season is over and has been for quite some time. However, because the oil spill negated all but ONE day of this summer's season, a decision was made to have a Fall Red Snapper season here on the coast. Unheard of - let me tell you!

I thought you would enjoy the photos - this is how a Lilly Girl Goes Snapper Fishing, on October 1 in the Gulf of Mexico. :-)

The first photo - at the beginning of this post - was taken right as the sun was coming up. We were about five miles south of Dauphin Island, AL. I actually made the captain (my Father!) stop the boat, so I could get out the camera and take that shot. There is nothing in this world like watching the sun rise over the water. As soon as it hits the horizon, it rises quickly. Notice the birds flying in the background. I hope everyone seeing this photo witnesses a sunrise like this at least once!

Me and DH as the fish started to roll in - note - each licensed fisherman/fisherwoman can only keep two red snappers. We had the limit very quickly! See how beautiful the water is in the background?

Catch of the Day! I thought this shot was cool - it shows how beautiful the fish really are. Look at the eyes. DH feels guilty about keeping them - even though we're going to have a fish fry. *it's not like we are wasting them, but we never keep a fish we don't eat unless fishing a tournament*

We're back at the dock now....can you believe I stuck my hands in the fish for this photo? Yeah, me neither! :-)

DH's fish are ALWAYS bigger than mine....I have to work on this....

Last but not least, a special "thanks" to our Captain (AKA Dad) for a perfect day!

Have a Fantastic Friday!
