Adventures In Babysitting - Gulf Coast Style!

Image
Happy Hump Day, Shopaholics! Imagine for a moment - you don't have any children and you are babysitting a favorite nephew who has the "day off" from preschool. Other than a steady supply of Thomas the Train toys and DVD's, how do you keep the little fellow entertained? Did I mention he has LOTS of energy??? :-) If you're me and DH, you take him to the beach. We already know he loves the beach! So here's what we did. We let him play in the sand... Running in the sand is also fun....because either me or DH has to chase him down... He was fascinated by a washed up jellyfish... Even I was amazed by this man of war jellyfish...it's actually pretty, even though they will hurt you. This is what "mostly cloudy with a little sunshine" means on the Gulf Coast of Alabama...I thought it was a beautiful photo... Clouds rolling in on the beach never cease to amaze me... A perfect day with two of my favorite men on the planet. What more could

Sixteen Years and Counting...

Happy Monday, Shopaholics! Hope you had a wonderful weekend! On October 22, 1994 my life changed forever. DH and I were married in a traditional ceremony in Mobile, AL. We celebrated our reception at the Richards DAR House in downtown Mobile and honeymooned on a cruise. Cute, huh? The above photo  was taken at our wedding reception. My scanner isn't working, so I had to take a photo of a photo - hence the bad picture quality. I wish you could see it better. Last Friday we celebrated our 16th anniversary, which began with this delivery... Did you notice the sand dollars attached to the red ribbon? What else could you expect from a florist named "Flowers By The Shore"? :-) We spent the entire afternoon at the beach, enjoying a nice relaxing afternoon and talking for hours. Amazing to me how time flies, some things change...but thankfully others stay the same. I am blessed with a DH who also loves the beach! After the beach we went out to dinner at Louisiana Lagnia

A "Beauty Ticket" For You!

Image
Happy Thursday, Shopaholics! Hope you are doing wonderful and having a lovely week! Recently I was introduced to the website "Beauty Ticket" by a Facebook friend who knows I have a serious *ahem* addiction to all things cosmetic, skin and hair care related. Ask those who know me best, I have cabinets and containers full of goodies here at home. And yet, I continue to purchase more. Of course this begs the question "what is wrong with me?" but that's a topic for another day! :-) Anyway, enough about the therapy I need and back to talking about Beauty Ticket (website link HERE ). They advertise "premium brands at VIP prices" and a joke it isn't. Beauty Ticket has "private sales" - similar to Rue La La, Gilt Groupe, etc. but the focus is on all things beauty. Since I've been a member of the site, I've seen private sales with Stila, Lumenesse, Rock & Republic, and many others. Many of the items are priced at up to 85% of

My Visit With Caroline Grace Jewelry

Image
Happy Tuesday, Shopaholics! Thanks so much for all your kind words and comments after my last blog post. Admittedly I was feeling a wee bit sorry for myself and a little unloved. You know I'm not normally one to be "down" on anything - least of all myself! Your support means the world to me, and I really appreciate you all caring about my life - even when I'm not shopping. LOL Do you remember me being excited about getting tickets to the Bon Jovi concert here at the beach? I managed to talk my friend Lucy over at Caroline Grace Jewelry into coming down for the concert and to spend the weekend.  It was the first time we'd met in person, although we were already big buddies on Twitter, Facebook, etc. DH was calling her a "computer friend"; so thankfully she came down and proved to him she was a "real friend". We started the weekend by getting fresh pedicures on Friday morning: Then, we went down to the public beach for the concert. We tai

At A Total Loss...

Image
Happy Monday, Shopaholics! Hope you're doing great today and are well rested after a nice weekend! For once, I'm at a total loss of words. I know, it's difficult to imagine; but it's true! :-( Lately I have been thinking a lot about this blog - where it's been, where it's going, and what my readers might expect from me. Believe me, I realize I haven't been updating quite as much as normal...and honestly, I think it's because I haven't been shopping as much as normal. You can pick yourself up off the floor now, and continue reading! :-) It felt like I was "boxing myself in" on the blog...everyone was reading and looking for the latest and greatest sales, shopping tips, etc. I do LOVE offering those things here, but even for me - there are times when I don't shop much. I guess I feel like that's what you are looking for from me.....and I haven't been able to give it to you! Am I correct? What would you LIKE to read about

Lilly Girl Goes Snapper Fishing!

TGIF, Shopaholics! Before I forget, THANK YOU so much to everyone who mailed a card to Nanny for her 85th birthday. She received a nice pile of them last Saturday, and called me to tell me all about it. I was in the stadium for the Alabama-Florida game, which was about to start...couldn't hear a word she was saying, but got the scoop the next day! Thanks again, you guys helped make Nanny's 85th birthday very special and I really appreciate it! The past two weeks have continued to be insane....DH's cushy BP gig is up, and he's taking a well deserved sabbatical before moving on to the next project. I know...you're thinking "how nice to have him at home", right? Well yes....but as you can imagine, my schedule is all out of whack and I'm not getting much done as a result! Last Friday, we were lucky enough to go red snapper fishing. Normally at this time of year, snapper season is over and has been for quite some time. However, because the oil spill n
