New Years Resolution: Use Ebates!

Image
Happy Holidays! Hope Santa was good to you all - it was a crazy holiday for us, and now I can't believe it's almost 2015. Wow - where has the year gone? Seems like it was last week when we were all making New Years resolutions for 2014.  Today, I wanted to talk about Ebates - the world's largest FREE website offering you cash back for online shopping. It's so easy - you sign up free (use my link HERE ). Then every time you shop online, start at the Ebates website to link to your favorite retailer website. Often times, there are special or promotional cash back percentages for a limited time. In addition, you will occasionally find very nice coupon codes for your favorite retailer. All this helps to save you money - and that quarterly cash back check is pretty nice. :-)  Speaking of that cash back check, you can opt for a paper check (this is what I do) or have your rebates sent to your Paypal. As a matter of information, you can see my numbers above. I joined...

Diet Coke Detox

Image
Hi Everyone! Seems like it's been forever since I posted to the blog - so much has been going on in my life, and there's never enough time in the day. Now I happen to be home suffering from the flu (ugh!) so I had a little time to update you on what's been happening around here.  #1: I joined Instagram (yes - finally!) and I am obsessed! If you're on IG, be sure to look me up (I'm @ shopaholicinal). Follow me and I'll follow you back! Watch for my #OOTD posts (which have come to a halt this week because of the flu) - as soon as I'm well they will return. "The First Step to Recovery Is Admitting You Have A Problem" - Twelve Step Recovery "To Thine Own Self Be True" - Shakespeare #2: I am on Diet Coke Detox. Recent health concerns of mine, as well as others in my family, really caused me to examine my Diet Coke habit  addiction. You see - in the spirit of full disclosure, I am a full blown Diet Coke Addict. Some people will s...

A First: Last Friday

Image
Maybe this is a little too personal to share - but, hopefully my post will help eliminate a myth and ease your mind.  What is the myth, you ask? The myth: it hurts to have a mammogram. The truth: it is not painful, not in the least. How do I know, you ask? The truth: I had one last Friday. It was the first time I've ever had a mammogram. And I'm 42 (eek!) years old, so my doctor said it was past time to get my first mammogram.  In case you're wondering, I have absolutely no reason to be concerned about the results of my test. Nothing materialized during my recent checkup to cause concern, but hey...you never know!  So here is my advice: if your doctor recommends a mammogram, go get one. It's not painful, and it's always better to know if something is going on in your body. You can fight what you know - and you can't fight what you don't know. Admittedly, I will be on pins and needles until I hear the results of mine... Have a great Monday!

The Best Eyeshadow Base $25 Can Buy: Trish McEvoy

Image
Trying a "new to me" product is always exciting. In addition to having a slight shopping obsession for clothing, shoes and accessories - it's possible my cosmetics and skincare obsession runs just as deep. And I can't wait to tell you about this eyeshadow base from Trish McEvoy!  I've always used an eyeshadow base as part of my cosmetics routine. If you plan to wear eyeshadow, an eyeshadow base should be an integral part of your routine. Just like a foundation on your face, the eyeshadow base preps your eyes for shadow. For me, it always makes an eyeshadow just glide on, and it certainly helps it stay put! On days when I don't feel like going through the whole makeup routine, I'll apply only an eyeshadow base with eyeliner and mascara. That's just enough so I don't look tired and is a simple routine.  I recently tried the Trish McEvoy Eye Base Essentials in Nude. This product is absolutely amazing and provides just the right amount of base fo...

The Best Eyeliner On The Planet

Image
...In my humble opinion, of course!  For years, I've refused to use eyeliner pencils and have instead opted for liquid eyeliner. My favorite liquid liner has long been Artliner by Lancome. The biggest reason I like the liquid liner? Because I didn't feel like it was pulling my eyes as it was being applied. I hate tugging on my eyes and fooling with a pencil. However, I have now changed my mind about eye pencils. And it's all because I tried the one above - this one is called Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner by NARS. This eye pencil has a built-in sharpener and a retractable applicator, so you don't even have to carry a sharpener around with you.  NARS always cracks me up with the names of their colors (like the blush "Orgasm" or my favorite lipstick "Sexual Healing", the folks who name the colors have a sense of humor!). My new favorite eye pencil is named after some of the most famous and iconic streets in the world - think Abbey Road, B...

My Shopaholic Skin System

Image
Do you have a specific nighttime skincare regime or system? It's almost a big joke here, when I tell the DH I have to "get ready for bed" - that means I'll be in front of the mirror for at least fifteen minutes before retiring for the evening. And all because of my nightly regime!  I like to think that I have pretty decent skin and a fairly nice complexion, but it comes with an investment of my time and a little money. I've always been one of those girls who took care of her skin. Heck, I lay out in the sun for eight months out of the year - I know I must do this! :) Even when I was a teenager and in my early 20's, I didn't go to bed with makeup on my face or eyes. I can clearly recall the day my Mother took me to the Clinique counter and I was introduced to the 3-step system, some of which I still use today. Over the years, my skin's needs have changed and the products have changed as a result.  Just for fun, here are the products that I use ...

Advice for the Single Girl BFF

Image
TGIF, everyone! Hope you are doing wonderful and planning a relaxing weekend filled with all your favorite things! Today I ask all you single (and attached, committed, or married!) ladies for advice. One of my BFF's is single and looking. She doesn't date much, as she lives in a small town here in the Deep South - and good men are hard to come by. To give you an idea what she's dealing with - the attorneys in her town have been known to wear overalls in public. Do you get the picture yet??? :-) Moving on with the story...BFF has found a really nice man and they are dating now, and have been for several weeks. This man doesn't live in her town, he lives an hour or so away. Most of their dating has consisted of meeting at "neutral" locations like restaurants, movies, etc. approx. halfway, but she always makes sure he travels further than she does. (I told her I thought this was critical at this particular stage of the relationship). She's in her earl...

Are You Feeling The Burn?

Image
Happy Monday, Shopaholics! I hope you all had a safe and happy 4th of July weekend! We've had company down at the beach, and have spent a lot of time at the pool, the beach, the BBQ grill - and eating. Oh my goodness, I'm going to need a detox later this week! Yesterday I spent the day at the beach with BFF Ashleigh and it was fantastic! There wasn't too much oil out there, which is supposed to change today, but we enjoyed it while we could. Of course we didn't get in the water...but I can live with that. I have really, really missed going to the beach with this oil spill business. As luck would have it, I managed to get a LOT of sun. Let's face it - that was my goal! Last night after showering my skin felt just a teeny tiny bit sunburned. Enter my "secret weapon" from Clinique - After Sun Rescue Balm with Aloe. I have used this stuff for years, and you can't beat it! It takes the heat out of my skin overnight, and helps to prevent (or minimize)...

My Pair Tree - How Cute Is This?

Image
Happy Tuesday, Shopaholics! Hope you're having a great start to the week. It's soooo hot here I just want to stay inside, in the AC. Today I want to introduce you to one of the cutest - and useful! - products I have seen in a long time! Shopaholics - meet My Pair Tree ! My Pair Tree is a one-of-a-kind hanging shoe rack that holds six pairs of your favorie flip flops or sandals.  I met the creator of this product - Mary Ellen - through Facebook. When she offered to send My Pair Tree my way to try, I was thrilled. Let's face it - I have a lot of stuff, and I'm always looking for a way to organize that stuff. I am literally swimming in flip flops over here. :-) This is very easy to use - you can place it on a hanger in your closet or display from a hook on a wall or door. Personally I prefer the back of the door method, as it keeps everything in plain sight. I've found if I can't see my goodies, I don't really use them. One thing I figured out from te...

The Fashion Police Owes Some People A Ticket...

Image
TGIF, Shopaholics! Hope you're having a wonderful day and a fun Memorial Day celebration planned! Originally I had planned to talk about something else today, but after attending my nephew's high school graduation ceremony last night, I have other things on my mind. I stressed all day about whether I would be dressed up enough for this graduation. I was feeling really FAT in everything I wanted to wear - and ended up wearing a Lilly dress in a very flattering wrap style. (This hides a multitude of sins, if you need one - search for Lilly Pulitzer CORBIN wrap dress). When I arrived, I immediately knew it had been silly to worry! I observed the following fashion violations, wish I had pictures to share (like the Glamour "don't" section), but would've been in extremely poor taste to snap. 1) Jeans and flip flops are not acceptable graduation attire. 2) If the dress is too tight, don't wear it. Matter of fact, if it's too tight, don't BUY it t...

The Thank You Note (and a Shopaholic DISCOUNT from our friends at MCC Designs!)

Image
Happy Wednesday everyone! Hope you're having a wonderful "hump day" - today the DH has a day off work. One would think that might mean "Fun Day" but alas, no. We have an appointment and then some work happening in our kitchen...guess the beach will have to wait! With graduation and wedding season in full swing, I'd like to talk about thank you notes and their importance. Is it just me, or does it seem people just don't write handwritten notes much anymore? I know many bloggers have discussed this in the past, and of course we all have our own opinion. For me personally, I feel it's extremely bad manners to not send a thank you note that is handwritten. Email just won't do in most cases! My Rules/Suggestions for Thank you notes: 1) When someone sends me a gift, I send them a thank you note, unless I live under the same roof as the gift giver. That's only DH, so everyone else receives a note! :-) 2) If someone does a favor or goes out o...

Dental Induced Coma

Image
Happy Thursday Shopaholics! Several of you have contacted me through email or Facebook today to find out how my dental work went. Well..........it was a significantly worse than expected. I was originally scheduled for one cap removal, filling buildup and new cap. Also two other teeth that needed filling "build ups". However, I was concerned about the tooth they were removing the old cap, as it had been quite uncomfortable.  Turns out, that tooth needed a root canal. Additionally (and just to keep things fun) one of the teeth that had the filling build up, had a really bad fracture that required a cap and there isn't a guarantee that it won't also require a root canal. Can you say "o-m-g"??? I was in the dentist chair for 4 hours today, and just woke up from my drug induced coma. Now that I'm a little more coherent, I just realized I could have purchased a small (albeit used) boat with the $$$$ I've spent at the dentist the past 6 month...
