Last Day of August - Last Day of Birthday Gifts!

Image
Happy Tuesday, Shopaholics! Didn't I tell you that I celebrated my birthday the entire month of August? :-) After today, the month is changing and my mind will slowly begin to turn to late summer (known as Fall everywhere else) and football season. Let me thank my lovely friend Kristina over at Lotus and Lilly for a thoughtful and generous birthday gift. Kristina's work is absolutely gorgeous. I was thrilled and surprised when she sent me a clutch and matching headband for my birthday! They are both made from vintage Lilly Pulitzer fabric, named Familia de Gato. The clutch is available to view on the website HERE . Thanks again Kristina, I love them both. Shopaholic tip: Be sure to join the Lotus and Lilly Facebook page, for special deals and promotions. :-) Another surprise came to me from The Preppy Ladybug . Shannon sent me a set of the Pink Coral Notecards, which I had mentioned here on Shopaholic as one of my favorite items from her store. I've already used sever

Party Photos!

Happy Sunday, Shopaholics! It's been raining here for days, I'm so tired of it. According to the experts, it won't stop until at least Wednesday! This is making me very grumpy... Thought I would share some photos from the birthday party with you! These were taken last Saturday night. We had a great time, and my sister and DH did such a great job of putting the party together in record time. Birthday cake, by "Pollman's Bakery" in Mobile. Disclaimer: DH knows I'm a total snob about my b'day cake, and it absolutely must have a beach scene. This is what the bakery came up with "sunset on the beach"... These strawberries were so yummy! My sister whipped up a delish cream cheese dip to accompany...and the decorations were made by the lovely Shannon at "The Preppy Ladybug" (Etsy link HERE ). How about a Strawberry Cheese Ring? These are staples at all our parties. Seriously, I think my friend Mary showed up just because she knew

Advice for the Single Girl BFF

Image
TGIF, everyone! Hope you are doing wonderful and planning a relaxing weekend filled with all your favorite things! Today I ask all you single (and attached, committed, or married!) ladies for advice. One of my BFF's is single and looking. She doesn't date much, as she lives in a small town here in the Deep South - and good men are hard to come by. To give you an idea what she's dealing with - the attorneys in her town have been known to wear overalls in public. Do you get the picture yet??? :-) Moving on with the story...BFF has found a really nice man and they are dating now, and have been for several weeks. This man doesn't live in her town, he lives an hour or so away. Most of their dating has consisted of meeting at "neutral" locations like restaurants, movies, etc. approx. halfway, but she always makes sure he travels further than she does. (I told her I thought this was critical at this particular stage of the relationship). She's in her earl

Giveaway Winners - Updated!

Image
Happy Tuesday, Shopaholics! Sorry I've been so far behind here. It seems life has been crazy since my friend Lisa's memorial service, my 40th birthday, Gabe having his accident, etc. I'm happy to report that Gabe came home from the hospital on Monday afternoon. A broken shoulder is his only remaining injury, and while the poor thing is miserable from the pain, he is going to be ok. We're so thankful the brain bleed stopped on it's own, and they didn't have to "go in". Whew! Thanks so much for all your comments here and on my Facebook page. Gabe's father (my younger cousin) read all of your posts, and he said he was just in tears with all the kindness and concern for his son. Apparently the well wishes and prayers worked! You guys are the best. :-) Congratulations to all our giveaway winners! Below I have an updated list. If you've won a giveaway, please be sure to contact me ( lori.driver@hotmail.com ) so we can get the ball rolling on you

Little Gabe Needs Your Thoughts & Prayers

Image
Hi There, my Shopaholic friends. It's going to be a long day here. I had planned a different post for today, but... My cousin's son had an accident Saturday evening. He fell off a balcony, about 27 stairs, directly onto the ground below. He is only 3 years old, and his name is Gabe. What we know about his injuries so far - he has a broken shoulder, and unfortunately is suffering internal bleeding on his lungs and his brain. Naturally he's in the hospital and is being watched very carefully. If the bleeding on the brain isn't better in a few hours, they will have to "go in". We're not sure yet exactly what this means, but it certainly isn't good. My cousin and his family lived in Oregon for the past five years; they just moved back to Alabama less than 10 days ago. My aunt just met her youngest grandson for the first time when they arrived. Gabe is such a beautiful little boy, and a sweetheart. If you're the praying type, please say a little
