Christmas Day, Gifts, Blessings & Missing Meme

Hello Fashionistas! Here's hoping you all had a wonderful and very Merry Christmas with your family and friends! We had a very busy few days around here, but I'm finally back home and ready to talk about Christmas! :-)

What was under your tree? My Santas did a GREAT job this year! I received Lilly Pulitzer clothing, shoes and stationery; Philosophy Hope in a Jar giant 8 oz size, Bliss body products, a beautiful fish pewter plate, books, gift cards, cash and many more goodies! It would be impossible to say what my favorite gift was this year, they were all fabulous! I can't wait to start using/wearing everything tomorrow!

NATCH, more important than the gifts, was spending time with family and friends this holiday season. I feel blessed to have so much family, and to live fairly close to most of them, so we can be together this time of year. I have lived away from my family during the holidays and it can be tough. When we moved back to the Gulf Coast a few years ago, I was so much MORE thankful for this time together.

One more thing I would like to mention - this was my first year to celebrate Christmas without Meme. :-( For those of you who don't know, Meme is one of my grandmothers, my Dad's mom. She was such a strong woman, a great example to me and my sister growing up. She NEVER looked (or acted!) her age, everyone always thought Meme was our Mother, not our grandmother. Meme was one of 8 children, and the only girl! Then she got married and had 3 boys, can you imagine??? She made the absolute BEST gumbo on the coast - better than any restaurant (sorry Emeril and all the fancy restaurants up and down our great coast). Every year on Christmas day, we had lunch at noon SHARP at Meme's house. That tradition changed this year.

Meme passed away July 11, 2009 from pancreatic, lung and bone cancer. It was sad to miss Meme this year, but I know she was watching over us, has no pain anymore and is in a better place. RIP Meme, ♥ you!

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

p.s. Keep reading, I have lots to share with you in the coming days!

  1. Merry Christmas, Lori. I imagine that there are not many days that pass that you don't have a special memory of Meme. Thinking of you and your family.
