Nothing Prepares You...
We've known this day was coming. We've been expecting it for over 40 days. But nothing prepares you for the reality of it...all images from Gulf Shores, AL.
Sad to say, this is just the beginning. We've been told, this will last all summer. Some are predicting it will take until December (!!!!) to stop the flow of oil, and get the coast cleaned up.
How did I deal with it? I'll tell you what I did yesterday, I ordered this Lilly dress (yes, I remember I'm not supposed to be shopping but that resolution is out the window!)
Drank two of these
Several of these too
Had two helpings of this
And then...I did what you would expect. I took a very long nap! :-)
Fingers crossed that we get good news soon. Surely we're due for something!?!?
Have a great Saturday everyone - we're going to try to squeeze in yet another beach day. Weather and oil permitting of course! Like I told DH, it appears we have allllllll summer to use the pool.

That is just so sad. I can't believe they haven't stopped it yet.

This is so heartbreaking. Praying that they get this resolved soon. I do love your dress though!
ReplyDeleteThis just makes me sad, growing up in Florida I have an appreciation for the beach and I cant stand to watch the beautiful coastline ruined, it's hard to watch.
ReplyDeleteIt's so sad but we should all be thankful that we have the abilities to help clean up and hopefully the will stop the flow so we can get things closer to normal for next summer
ReplyDeleteHey, Girl, found you from Bumpkin. I'm so sorry the oil has hit you there in the gorgeous Gulf Shores. My heart is breaking...
ReplyDeleteWe here on the MS Gulf Coast are waiting, hoping, and praying. Keep me posted. I hate the stupid comments from people that do not have a clue...like one that was posted above.
xoxo!

It's nice to see firsthand pictures and perspectives Lori, thank you for this. It helps us all remember what is going on and makes it hit home more than watching it on one of the networks.
ReplyDeleteBig, big hugs to you,
tp
So, so sad. And the residual effects that are unseen - loss of tourism, etc. among other things. So, so sorry for y'all. xoxo
ReplyDeleteIt's just devastating...
ReplyDeleteI'm sad Lori, but I would have done exactly what you did..love the dress, but I really love the drink..lol.
ReplyDeleteBesos,
Maggie
The pictures of the gulf coast are so sad. I feel so bad for all of the birds and sea life. I've been watching the news coverage of the bird rescues. I just pray this stops soon.
ReplyDeleteLori, I'm so sorry to hear this news and to see these images. It's heartbreaking to see this disaster. Hugs to you. xoxo
ReplyDeleteMy heart just breaks for all of you on the gulf coast!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your personal stories so openly... I have been reading your blog from PA & it is absolutely heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteOur hearts are breaking with you and if your blog friends were there we would shop, eat and drink with you. xo
ReplyDeleteWhen will the effects of this tragedy be gone? SO sad. On an up note...that Lilly maxi is gorgeous!
