Too Much!

Hello my lovely friends!

Hope you are doing great today, I haven't had the motivation to blog the past few days. Before you think I'm lazy (haha), let me tell you what's going on around these parts.

1) The DH was laid off on Monday morning. Even though I'm soooooo tempted to make his (and my!) ex-employer a believer in the power of Social Media and talk more about it here, I'll refrain from that activity. I have confidence he will find something else quickly, he's a super smart dude and has lots of great experience. This will ultimately work out for the best!

2) I'm missing the Lilly Pulitzer warehouse sale, which started this morning in King of Prussia, PA. This is a SUCH a fun, semi-annual sale. I love attending the sale! It's so awesome to be able to visit and socialize with all my friends across the country while we get bargains, have dinner and wine, and give our best Bret Michaels impression in our hotel room. You know how the males have "male bonding"? Attending the sale with friends is the ULTIMATE "female bonding". I plan to be there for the fall sale in November, can't stand to miss another one.

3) Our beaches are under attack from this oil spill. This morning, nasty big patches of oil started washing ashore in Orange Beach, AL - approx. 8 miles from us. This is the stuff that looks like chocolate mousse, not tar balls. It's hard to try to focus on something else at this point. You can smell it in the air. It's not strong, and it's not making us sick or anything, but a constant smell like mild burning. BP workers are everywhere I look, even though it doesn't appear they are accomplishing very much. I have lots to say about BP, but I'm saving that for another day.

4) Just to keep things fun, I busted up my knee yesterday. I tripped and fell (over my own two feet of course, because I really am a klutz!) going into my Dad's office. Directly on the concrete sidewalk. My left knee is a mess, the entire knee cap is covered with a huge "boo boo". We're talking 2 big bandages to cover it for sleeping. It actually feels like it has a heartbeat at this point, it's throbbing! I'm using the new Neosporin with Pain Relief, which is helping.

So anyway...that's what all is going on around here. None of it is good or fun. I'm thinking we're due for a break and soon, because this is just TOO. MUCH. TO. HANDLE.  I'm wondering if I made the big man upstairs mad or something!

Have a Wonderful Wednesday - I am trying!

  1. I must say I'm very proud of you for not slamming, well, I won't say either! That really is the best way to handle it. It's often said God doesn't give you more than you can handle, but I do believe he finds it fun to test us! :) Keep your faith and it will all work out. Just remember it's in His time, not ours. I know, easy for me to say. Hugs, kisses and prayers! Oh, for your boo-boo, you may also want to try the band-aid cleaner with pain relief. The kids swear by it...

  2. What a rough few days! I'm so sorry you're going through all of this. You are right - it is just TOO MUCH! Sending lots of prayers for your dh to find a new job and for BP to finally get their act together and clean up their mess! And I am missing the sale too, so we can cry about that together!

  3. YUCK. You have not had a good few days. Thankfully God has a plan for all of us and He brings GOOD out of bad/tough times. I'm praying that'll be how it is for you! Hang in there & I hope you have a good Wednesday.

  5. What a complete bummer about DH's job loss! This economy has GOT to get better! Compound that with what you are going through with the oil mess, and no wonder you are having a bad day girl. I'm sending hugs from South Florida and saying a little prayer for y'all:) Also, I'm just wondering, are you boycotting the BP stations? Yesterday, mine was loaded with customers and I thought...what???? I just cringe at the sign now--even though I know BP doesn't actually own all the stations. Just curious how someone in the middle of the mess feels?

  6. I am so sorry you are having a rough few days! I hoep DH finds a new job soon and I am sure he will. Prayers are with your family.

As far as the oil spill goes I am sure it has to be aweful for you right now. However, at the same time I feel for all the people that work for BP. Not one of them set out to work for the company knowing this was going to happen. So really, at the end of the day they are in the same boat- worrying about the spill and worrying about not having a job come tomorrow. Of course I do NOT agree with how this is being handled and I am sure seeing the devastation first hand gives one an entirely new outlook.

Thinking of your family and lifting you up in prayer.

  8. Oh dear, I read on facebook about your recent family developments and big hugs and prayers for you! And applaud you for being so tactful about it as well, as a proper pink and green prep should!

As for your boo-boo, that is just icing on the cake. I hope it gets better soon!

  9. You poor thing! Too many bad things in too little time....that always make it hard to even see the light I know. Hope you heal up quickly then you can go out there and yell at the oil people.
