BCS National Championship - Auburn Tigers vs. Oregon Ducks
Happy Monday! Greetings from a cold and wet Gulf coast beach town! :-)
Tonight is the BCS National Championship game, where the Auburn Tigers will meet the Oregon Ducks. For those who don't follow sports - we're talking about college football.
The DH and I love college football. Some of you might remember that I'm a season ticket holder for UA football (The University Of Alabama) and attend every home game in Tuscaloosa, AL. I also love to attend "away" games and have watched my beloved team play in other locales such as Columbia, SC; Pasadena, CA; New Orleans, LA; Jacksonville, FL; Birmingham, AL; Jackson, MS; and Knoxville, TN.
Alabama and Auburn are "in-state rivals", but that really makes it sound pretty calm and slightly civilized. HAHA. Most people around here either love Alabama or they love Auburn - and they pull for whichever team the other one is playing on any given Saturday.
Last year, Alabama beat the Texas Longhorns in the BCS Championship to win their first national championship since 1992. Our star running back, Mark Ingram, also won the Heisman Trophy. It was a grand year!
This year, Auburn has the chance to win the BCS Championship. Their star quarterback, Cameron Newton, has already won the 2010 Heisman Trophy. All they have to do is beat Oregon tonight.
What are the chances of one state producing the Heisman Trophy and BCS National Champions in back-to-back years?
Do you enjoy college football? Who is your favorite team, and who are you pulling for tonight? Doesn't really matter to me - my team isn't playing! Good luck to Auburn and Oregon, may the best team win!

Goo Gators! Tonight, I will be pulling for the Ducks. :)
ReplyDeleteI was at the BCS NC game in Pasadena LAST year! I loved the Alabama-Texas matchup but it was unfortunate that Colt got injured and thus lost the game. I'm for Oregon tonight! Go Ducks, Quack Quack Quack!

Auburn tore us up in the SEC championship. However, I'm pulling for them. Go SEC!
ReplyDeleteI am obsessed with college football ;-). Totally 100% Tennessee Vol through thick and thin! But tonight I'll pull for the Tigers, because I NEVER cheer against the SEC! Not a fan of Cam Newton, but Go SEC!!
ReplyDeleteSaw the beginnings of your post about Mean Girls on my Dashboard today. Yes, I've had dealings with Mean Girls. Once a meanie, always a meanie. I taught high school for 33 years and saw all kinds of mean girl behavior. Mean Girls usually come from Mean Mommas. Sad, but true. XOXO
Ware Eagle! I'm an Auburn girl all the way! :-) That game exhausted me! I just read your post about Emily Giffin. I've read all of her books, she's fabulous and also a really cool person. You should check out her facebook page. She lives right here in Atlanta!
