Birthday Dinner at Louisiana Lagniappe

Caution: if you love seafood, you will probably be hungry after seeing this post!

As you will remember from Friday, I was very concerned about what was going to happen over the weekend. My Nanny was doing very bad, and my mother in law was in the hospital. Luckily, Nanny is feeling better and MIL was released home on Saturday. So, this weekend the DH and I were able to enjoy a nice dinner out for my birthday. Thank goodness, it was nice to be able to go out together and relax! He's been out of town a lot lately, and I've been working my tail off. (well not really - it's still here unfortunately, but you know what I mean!)

One of our favorite restaurants here at the beach is Louisiana Lagniappe. Located at San Roc Cay in Orange Beach, Louisiana Lagniappe never disappoints. We've been going there for years (even before we lived at the beach). When we lived in Destin, we went to the LL there often too. We even have a favorite waitress (Tracy) and we always request her when we go.

Saturday night we started out with a crab cake appetizer. These babies are served with remoulade sauce and are pan fried. They are fantastic, and easily the best crab cakes around. You can trust us on this one - we try the crab cakes almost everywhere and the ones at Louisiana Lagniappe can't be beat!

For dinner, DH had the grilled yellowfin tuna. It's topped with lump crabmeat and hollandaise sauce. DH always orders it rare, and he gets the same thing every single time we go. On each visit, before we get there, he says, "I'm going to try something different". But - he never does! Isn't that funny? I say, if you love something and it never disappoints, don't mess with success!
I always get fish at Louisiana Lagniappe - the question is always what kind of fish, and what topping does it have? Saturday night I went with pan sauteed grouper, topped with lump crabmeat and grilled shrimp. On the menu, this entree is served with menuiere sauce. However, I asked Tracy if the kitchen would be willing to prepare it with hollandaise sauce instead. (Although I will eat it, I'm not a huge fan of menuiere and much prefer another sauce). Of course, they were happy to do so and the results were amazing.
If you visit the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area frequently - or plan to soon - you simply must try Louisiana Lagnaippe. And if you visit Destin, be sure to try that location. It's difficult to beat the food and the service. Sitting directly on the water doesn't hurt either. :-)

And - if you're so inclined - be sure to try the King Cake Martini. Saturday night, I opted for wine instead but that King Cake Martini is delicious!

Did you have any amazing dinners out this past weekend?

p.s. I'm wearing my new dress from Tracy Negoshian and the DH is wearing Southern Tide. We had so many compliments on this combination!
