Meet My Friend - "The Preppy Pastor"
Hello everyone! As my Preppy fabulous idol over at Social Climbers sometimes says "I'm tired of myself", so I decided to take a little blogging break today. Instead, please enjoy the following "guest" blog post by my friend The Preppy Pastor! I'll be back on Thursday! XOXO
Happy Wednesday, Beauties!!
Mrs. Shopaholic needed a well deserved break, so I am filling in for her. I am trying desperately to start my own blog, but I haven’t quite found the discipline to write regularly. I am more than happy to guest blog in the time being!
I’m a totally shopaholic, especially when it comes to super preppy things! I have a closet full of Lilly, Vineyard Vines, Tory Burch and Original Kate Spades. I monogram EVERYTHING -- including my dog’s Lilly collar. I am well over 20, but I still wear a bow in my hair when I put my hair in a ponytail! I love shopping, especially for bargains on my favorite designers. I’m sure many of you could say the same things about yourself! However, there is one thing that is just a little different about me........I’m a tall, blonde, preppy PASTOR!
I love my job so much!! I’m not going to get all preachy on you, but I do want you to know about why I do what I do. To me, God is all about Hope, Grace, and Love. I have been so blessed in my life to know that Hope, Grace, and Love all of my life. I became a pastor simply because I want everyone to know that Hope, Grace, and Love! In my time since becoming a pastor, I have found myself filled with two main frustrations:
First, so many people give Christians a bad name. People use God’s name to judge others. People use God’s love as something you must earn. People treat Christianity like it is a club, you have to earn your way into. I find so much in my life, I end up trying to apologize for people who dilute the power of God’s Hope, Grace, and Love. God’s love is bigger than anything we can imagine! My hope in my life is simple, I can open people up to the possibility of greatness of the Hope, Grace, and Love God offers.
Second, it is amazing to me hard it is for people to accept me as a pastor, simply because I am young, tall, blonde, preppy, and fashionable. I have actually been told by people I should, “ugly myself,” if I wanted to be taken seriously as a pastor. It is hard for me to believe in this day and age people try to limit pastor to homely men and women. At times it is frustrating, but I refuse to give in! I’m going to continue to share God’s love while being fashionable all at the same time!
Now, I know that what you really visit this blog is to find out about great shopping spots! I have to share with you my two local Lilly Stores which I just love! They are amazing gems right in my back yards!
Life’s a Beach is the Lilly via shop in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. They have an AMAZING new website: http://www.shoplifesabeach.com! As you can imagine, business is VERY SLOW in the winter for them, so they LOVE internet orders. One unique special they offer, is for every 50 fans they get on facebook, they run a special just for their facebook fans! I would bet they will offer something extra special, if we get them to 400 fans today! So if you’re not a fan yet, make sure you join today, using THIS link.
My other local store, is Ocean Palm in Virginia Beach and Williamsburg. They offer free shipping on orders over $300 on their website http://www.oceanpalm.net/. You may already be a fan of this store on Facebook, since Mrs. Shopaholic herself just won their contest to recruit the most fans. If not, join the fun HERE. The girls in both of their stores are just amazing!
May your day be filled with Hope, Grace, Love, and Fashion, of course!

The Preppy Pastor
What a lovely guest blog! It's nice to get to know you, Preppy Pastor. You should never have to make yourself "ugly" or change from being your true self. You're a great role model for others just the way you are.
ReplyDeleteP.S. You're right about those being great stores. I think I met the owner of the Life's a Beach store in a Nordstrom Rack in Bethesda a while ago.
Stay beautiful! True beauty comes from within and you can't be beautiful on the outside without it, therefore, you are perfect in God's eyes. Never let anyone try to change you.
ReplyDeleteHope you start your own blog soon or, at least, continue to guest blog.
XOXO
You did a great job with the blog! I commend you for your faith and helping others to grow in their faith..what would life be without Hope and a belief in God? Also, I love the whimsicle side of preppy, pink and green, and shopping...your blog was fun a fun read after a challenging day! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHi! I'm a first-time commenter, but I really enjoyed your guest post today! I have known several female pastors and I have to say that I think you are right on in saying that you can be pretty and fashionable AND a woman of God. Good for you! I think it's more relateable and relevant to be a modern (and well put together) woman than to be "frumpy" or the like. Stick to your fabulousness and your faith! They are NOT mutually exclusive (...well you know that!)
ReplyDeleteWTG Eleanor! This was such an enjoyable read! Hope to see you writing here again in the near future!
